The Lost City
For whatever reason M has always called Downtown Minneapolis the Lost City. Probably has a little something to do with her Dora the Explorer fascination during toddlerhood. But to this day, she calls it the Lost City. I've got to tell you...it's probably quite appropriate.
This year was the third year that M and I trekked downtown to see the Macy's Holiday Display. (Previously called Daytons...then Marshall Fields...Hopefully we stick with Macy's for awhile now)
The Minneapolis store converts the entire 8th floor to the display, with 22 different sections to read a long. It is so fun. There was NO wait. And I mean NO wait. We actually went through twice. This year's story was "Mary Poppins".
Yes, she insisted on wearing her hat the entire day even though our coats were in the car.
It is so fun to get M's perspective on things each year as she becomes more and more aware of her surroundings.
One of my favorites:
Taxi Cabs
M: "Look at those cool yellow cars."
Me: "Those are called Taxi's, they take people where they need to go if they don't have a car or need to get somewhere."
M: "We need to get us a taxi."
She loved watching the Christmas Tree being decorated in the City Center. Wondered where they buy those big ornaments. Loved the fountains in Gavidae where we had lunch at Brueggers. Loved watching her footsteps on lighted tile steps going through the skyways. Just her zest for downtown.
After almost 4 hours downtown, she was sad to leave.

What a wonderful tradition. She will remember these times always. Downtown is like a different world to her, amazing how she views it all. Mumsy
What fun the two you must have had...
